Private sector accommodation
The University encourages first year students to apply for accommodation owned and managed by Queen’s.
Students wishing to take up private sector accommodation rather than University owned accommodation are advised to check out ‘Studentpad’, at www.nistudentpad.co.uk. The website is hosted by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) and carries a listing of NIHE approved properties. Alternatively check out the information about renting private sector accommodation on the Students’ Union website at www.qubsu.org and click on Advice Centre.
Caution! – the responsibility for securing accommodation rests with you and inclusion of a property on Studentpad does not confer any recommendation or guarantee. The properties contained on Studentpad have not been inspected or approved by the University, so students must satisfy themselves as to their suitability. The University does not accept any liability in connection with these properties. You must always inspect the property yourself to ensure it meets your needs before agreeing to take it on. Be aware too, that where a number of students rent a flat together, the responsibility for damage/rent often rests equally with each individual.
What is www.nistudentpad.co.uk?
www.nistudentpad.co.uk is a website providing a detailed search facility which allows you to access information on all types of available accommodation in the area including location maps and photographs. Once you have registered on the system, you can receive automatic updates of new properties being advertised on Studentpad. There are also other features which you may find useful which include an extensive advice section, student message boards, the ability to create your own personal housing lists and email details to friends and much more.
How do I get access to it?
The service is free to all Queen’s University Belfast students and can be accessed at www.nistudentpad.co.uk

Queen’s recognises its responsibility to be a good neighbour, and that dealing with antisocial behaviour by students is a challenge. Queen’s approach is firm but measured, revolving around three key principles: Education, Partnership, Discipline.
Queen’s University, in partnership with the University of Ulster, Belfast Metropolitan College, St Mary’s College, Stranmillis College Groups, Belfast City Council and the Police Service of Northern Ireland, strives to ensure that the environment of areas surrounding the University is not adversely affected by student residents.
