• 38 week contract – 18 September – 11 June 2011
• 50 week contract – 18 September – 3 September 2011
Where do I go to apply?
You can complete an application online, please see the section ‘How to apply’. Computer terminals to apply online are available at Elms Village from 1 June 2010.
To be eligible for a place in accommodation you will need to have met the following criteria:
• Applied for accommodation and paid the £300 deposit* before 1 August 2010
• Be accepted onto a course at Queen’s at the time of allocation, i.e. if you are an undergraduate your academic status must be unconditional firm UF, and if you are a postgraduate you must have accepted an unconditional offer and your academic status is UA.
Guarantees
Students coming from outside Northern Ireland in their first year of study at Queen’s are guaranteed a place in accommodation if they apply by 1 August 2010. Please read the Allocation Policy available to view on this website.
What if I do not get offered a place?
If you have applied for a place in Queen’s accommodation, met all the deadlines and criteria, but we are unable to offer you a room, you will need to look for a place to live in the private sector. If you have paid a deposit it will be refunded.
Looking in the private sector
If you would like to live in the private sector the accommodation team can help you with your search. Accommodation details can be viewed online in the property search database at www.nistudentpad.co.uk
Students’ Union support
The Students’ Union also offers support for students house-hunting in the private sector. To find out more information go to the Students’ Union website at www.qubsu.org and click on Advice Centre.
Other key considerations
* Students from Northern Ireland postcode areas BT1 to BT21, BT26 to BT28, BT36 to BT39 who apply for accommodation will be placed on a waiting list and will be allocated accommodation after all other Queen’s students have been processed. Students in these postcodes are not required to pay a £300 deposit with their application; a deposit will be collected when they are offered a room. Further details regarding the allocation policy for accommodation can be found on this website.
Please note that students who have already completed an undergraduate degree at Queen’s and are returning to complete a postgraduate degree are classed as ‘returning students’ and not as postgraduate students in their first year of study. For information regarding returning students please see ‘All other students’.
