Our accommodation for 2009-10 is full. If you still require accommodation we are only in a position to deal with inquiries from Queen’s students. A limited number of rooms may become available and therefore if you are a Queen’s student you should contact us by phone to discuss our current position. We are not accepting on-line applications therefore you may be asked to download an application form from this web site. There is no guarantee that you will be offered a room at Queen’s; we therefore recommend that you continue to consider and act on all other options available.

FAQ'S
What if I want to share with my friends?
We will try to accommodate all requests; however you must complete a group application form. Each applicant should complete their own form and all forms should be returned together with one Group Application Form. A deposit is required from each member of the group. Yes, you can apply on-line as a group.
Do I send a deposit?
Yes, a deposit of £300.00 is required along with your application form. No applications will be processed without a deposit.
Will I lose my deposit if I change my mind?
Yes, you will lose your deposit if you refuse the offer of accommodation. We will only return your deposit if you are not accepted onto a course at Queen’s.
What method of payment is accepted?
You can pay by cheque or bank draft to Queens University Belfast, or if you wish to pay by Credit Card, please complete the relevant form or use it to pay on-line with your paperless application.
What if I am on holiday and the offer comes through?
Make sure that someone can act on your behalf.
What is the closing date for application forms to be returned?
If you have an unconditional offer, we guarantee you a place if we receive your application form before 1st August 2009. For conditional offers the closing date is Monday 24 August 2009 – it is not necessary to wait for UCAS confirmation. Applications received after 24 August 2009 will not be allocated in the first draft.
How will I know you have received my application form?
Whether you apply on-line or by post, you will receive written confirmation in an email by return to confirm our receipt of your application.
Are Car Parking facilities available?
Due to the traffic congestion in South Belfast and around the University, we recommend that you do NOT bring cars to Belfast. If the use of a car is essential, students are requested to apply for a car parking permit which costs £80.00 for the full residential year (Subject to change). In order for your request to be considered, you must state your case in detail, specifying why you require a car parking space. Should you receive confirmation that you have been successfully allocated a space, payment in full of the £80.00 is expected on checkin. Please note that a parking permit does not guarantee a space – all car parking places in Elms Village are on a first come, first serve basis. We ask all our students with cars not to park in residential areas around Elms Village, due to traffic congestion and in respect of our neighbours.
Can I bring my bicycle/ motor bike?
Yes, we encourage students to travel by bicycle or motor bike. There are bicycle stands available at the Elms Village and also around the campus. Motor bikes can be parked anywhere there is a space. For more information on the above click here and select the link for Sustainable Travel.
What if my application is late?
Don’t worry! Late applications or applications from overseas will still be accepted on-line or by fax: +44 2890 974489
Can you provide linen?
Yes we can at a charge. You can reserve a new linen pack from us which will include a duvet, duvet cover, pillow, pillow case, under sheet and over sheet. It is available at £30.00 per pack. Please tick this on your application form if required.
How are places allocated?
Preference in allocating accommodation is given to students of Queen’s University Belfast. Priority is given to students with disabilities, international students, students with a confirmed offer and first year students who live in areas from which it is deemed unreasonable to commute to the University by public transport on a daily basis. If you live within reasonable commuting distance you should still apply in the usual way. We cannot always provide everyone with the type of accommodation that they prefer, although we do our best. We find that most students enjoy living in the accommodation they are offered, whatever their original choices may have been.
Offers of Accommodation
Allocations will be made on or after 24 August 2009. An offer will be made to you by email no later than 7 calendar days from receipt of your application. To confirm your place you must return your Residential Accommodation Offer (Contractual Agreement) by email within 7 calendar days of receipt. If you fail to do this the University may withdraw your offer of accommodation and if so, you will lose your deposit. We would ask that anyone not taking up an offer of accommodation advises the Elms Village Reception Office as soon as possible, to free up the space for other students. Do not be put off if you live in Belfast and wish to experience the true QUB Lifestyle. Please apply as normal.
Deposits
When accepting an offer for University accommodation, the deposit will convert to a damage deposit of £300 for the year and where appropriate during the year, deductions may be made from this deposit. The remainder of the deposit will be refunded by 31 July 2010. All students who move out of University accommodation before the end of their contract will forfeit their full deposit and will be liable for the residential fee for the full term of their contract.
Conditions of Contract
Residential Contract Acceptance of a place in our accommodation commits a student to live in the accommodation for the full residential year of 38 weeks/50 weeks (or a full semester, if appropriate) and pay the required fees independent of any absences from the accommodation as part of the course. Any student who accepts an accommodation contract and does not take up the place by the end of the second week of the residential year may lose the place – and will be liable for the fees for the full term of their contract. Outstanding residential fees will be reported to the Academic Council Office for disciplinary action, which may include suspension from the University, prevention from graduation, and collection of debt by a third party. If you accept University accommodation you must comply with the Conditions of Contract (please click here).
